A short city trip to Paris (Vegan food guide)

A few weeks back I spontaneously decided to go to Paris for a short trip together with my boyfriend. We stayed at the beautiful C.O.Q Hotel (*) which is located close to the Place d'Italie. I totally fell for the beautiful interior far away from the sterile looks of many hotels. Somehow the C.O.Q hotel, it's warm colour palette and hygge atmosphere made us feel at home.

Vegan Food Guide

Coq au vin, froglegs...While France doesn't particularly have a reputation for being vegan friendly, I must say that I wasn't dissappointed about the choice of vegan food places in Paris. Probably this is due to the fact that Paris is quite international and keeps up with the food trends.
There is quite a handful of different cafes and restaurants to chose from which we made sure to check out. Following is a short introduction to some vegan food places I can recommend in Paris. Bon appetit!

The World Food Barn offers nutrious raw vegan food. We enjoyed a big bowl of the day, with many greens and some grains, helping us to refuel after our journey. The guy who runs it is an expat from the US and super friendly and welcoming. You can feel how passionate he is about his food and indeed the meal was very satisfying. Also offers great juices and raw vegan desserts!

Cloud Cakes is an all vegan coffee and cake house which we visited on a daily basis. I have a sweet tooth and one of the hardest things to give up on while going vegan was sweets. In my home town its not easy to come across vegan desserts so I was delighted to have a broad choice of vegan options at cloud cakes. My tip: The vegan carrot cake!

Hank Burgers is a vegan Burger place. There is also a different store of the chain in Paris that offers Vegan pizza. However, we were keen on trying out the vegan burgers. I particularly was impressed by the vegan cheese fries-I must say the cheese sauce was my closest taste experience to real melted cheese so far. But also the burgers were very satisfying and rich in taste. Definitely worth a visit!

Bolly Nan is an Indian food chain. While it is not exclusively vegan and also has meat on offer, most of its vegetarian options are vegan. It works like a buffet: As a vegetarian/vegan you can chose four dishes for your plate. I highly recommend to get some tradtional Naan bread with it-it's freshly made on the stove and cannot be misssed. Especially during the colder days we had in Paris, Indian food provides for a great and filling meal. And don't worry if you're not into spicy because it's only mildly hot (you can add hot sauce to it later).

Fragments is a cute urban cafe located in the hip Parisian area of Le Marais. They offer vegetarian as well as vegan options especially suitable for breakfast or an early lunch. They're menu list isn't extensive but they have a sufficient selection of sweet and savory things ranging from avocado toast to porridge. It's a cozy little place, though not the cheapest, yet a great place to stop by.

Those were the places I tried out myself. However, there were many more vegan food options which I have saved on my map though didn't have the time to check them out this time. Maybe though it will give you some inspiration for your next trip to Paris!

I hope you liked this little introduction to Paris' vegan culinary side and let me know your favorites in the comment section below!
